GitHub Actions
What each repository's GitHub Actions cost a day — connecting GitHub, the range, the chart by day, a picked day, the workflows and sessions behind the runs, the days that stood out and the days past a limit.
GitHub Actions shows what each repository's Actions cost, day by day, and who ran them: which workflows, and which of your sessions pushed the commits that started them. Kairos reads it on your Mac with your own GitHub CLI's sign-in, and keeps it on the Mac.
Connecting GitHub
Until GitHub is connected the screen says "See what GitHub Actions cost": "Each repository's spend by day, the workflows and the sessions that ran it, and the days that stood out."
- On a Mac, Connect GitHub signs the GitHub CLI in. It asks you to enter a code at github.com/login/device. If the GitHub CLI is not installed, Kairos offers to install it. See Settings › GitHub.
- On an iPhone or iPad: "Connect GitHub on your Mac: Kairos, Settings, GitHub." While the Mac waits for the code, the phone shows it: "Enter the code at github.com/login/device on your Mac."
Kairos never sees or keeps the GitHub token; the GitHub CLI holds it.
The range and the chart
Range picks 7 days, 30 days (the default) or 90 days. The chart has one bar a day, stacked by repository; the largest repositories have their own colours and the rest are "Other" (or "3 others").
- Days are GitHub's: UTC days, as GitHub bills them ("Mon, Nov 2").
- Today's bar is marked "so far".
- With a daily limit set, each repository's limit shows as "limit $10".
- Pick a bar for that day: the lists below change to "on Mon, Nov 2", and All 30 days goes back.
The line under the chart says how good the figures are, for example "96% matched to a run · 3 runs still to read · from GitHub's bill, about an hour behind · read 2 min ago". Before GitHub's bill is in, the figures are "at list price from each run's minutes".
Workflows
"What each workflow cost": each workflow, its repository, its runs and its cost over the range or the picked day. "No runs read yet." until the first read is done.
Sessions
"Who started the runs": each session whose commits started runs, with what those runs cost. Tap a session to open it in Sessions. Runs nobody's session started are listed as "Scheduled", or "Outside Kairos's sessions".
Days that stood out
"A repository's day at three times its usual or more, the median of the two weeks before." Each such day lists its workflows and the sessions behind it.
Days past a limit
Only when daily limits are on. "The limit lets merges, releases, the main branch and manual runs through; runs that started before GitHub's report showed the limit passed ran on." Each day says how far it went over ("$4.20 over"), against which limit, and why the runs that went over were let through. See GitHub Actions limits.
When it cannot show
| It says | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Reading GitHub | The first read is in progress. Kairos reads only while the screen is open. |
| GitHub Actions need Kairos 2.0.64 on your Mac | The engine is older. See Updates. |
On an iPhone and iPad
On an iPhone, Today's GitHub Actions card ("What each repository's Actions cost a day, and the workflows and sessions that ran them") opens the screen as a sheet. A wide iPad has it as a tab.
