Kairos for Mac
Updates
How Kairos keeps itself up to date on a Mac, what it sends when it checks, and every state Settings › Updates can show.
Kairos updates itself. You never need to download it again.
How it works
- About once a day, Kairos asks kairos.matihlabs.com whether a newer version exists. It sends only its own version: no account, no usage, nothing about your Mac.
- When there is one, it downloads it from the release's GitHub page and checks it.
- It installs when its window is closed or it quits, so it never restarts under you.
- Installed with Homebrew?
brew upgradeworks too; both end at the same app.
Settings › Updates
| Item | What it says |
|---|---|
| Update Kairos automatically | On by default. Off, Kairos still checks when you press Check Now. |
| Headline | "Kairos 2.0.69" when current; "Checking…"; "Downloading Kairos 2.0.70…"; "Installing Kairos 2.0.70…"; "Kairos 2.0.70 is ready". |
| Detail | "Up to date, checked 3 hours ago", or "It installs when you close this window, or now." |
| Restart Now | Installs a ready update at once and reopens Kairos. |
| Try Again | After a failed check or download. |
| Check Now | Asks at once. Kairos › Check for Updates… opens this tab. |
The footer: "Kairos asks kairos.matihlabs.com about once a day, sending only its version, and updates itself when its window is closed or it quits."
The engine
The app carries the engine with it. After an update, Kairos brings the engine on this Mac up to the app's version. If Settings › General › About shows an older "Kairos on this Mac" than the app, use its update button, or run claude-rotation install.
iPhone and iPad
Kairos Code updates through the App Store like any app. When the Mac runs an older Kairos than the phone expects, a screen says what it is missing: "Kairos on the Mac is older than this app: update it to see …".
