What Kairos does by itself
Claude in Chrome
Which account Claude in Chrome connects sessions on, starting Chrome sessions there, opening Chrome before a session needs it, and what Kairos does when a session's link to Chrome is stuck.
The Claude in Chrome extension connects a Claude Code session only when the session runs on the same account and organization as the extension. Rotation moves new sessions between accounts, so Kairos keeps track of which account Chrome uses, and starts Chrome sessions there.
For each account's own Chrome window (a Chrome profile signed in as that account), see Chrome for each account.
Which account Chrome uses
Kairos learns it from the first session that connects. If none has yet, name it:
- the account's menu › Claude in Chrome Uses This Account. See Accounts.
claude-rotation chrome work;claude-rotation chrome --unsetforgets it.
Accounts then shows "Claude in Chrome uses this account" on that row.
Starting Chrome sessions there
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| flag | claude --chrome starts on Chrome's account; other sessions follow rotation. |
| all | Every new session starts on Chrome's account while it has room. |
Choose with claude-rotation chrome --sessions all or --sessions flag.
claude-rotation claude --account side -- ARGS starts Claude Code in that account's folder; without --account, on Chrome's account for a Chrome session, or on the account rotation chose. The shell line does the same for plain claude in new terminals; see Other tools › The shell line.
Check before a session uses Chrome or a page
Settings › Accounts › Chrome and pages › Check before a session uses Chrome or a page:
- before a session's Claude in Chrome call, Kairos opens that account's Chrome, so the call finds it. Kairos never closes that Chrome itself.
- before a call to a claude.ai page made on another account, Kairos brings that account back first, or tells the session why it cannot yet. See Pages › When a session cannot reach its page.
It is on once a Kairos Chrome is set up. A session started before the switch was turned on gets the page check when it starts again. See Settings › Accounts.
claude-rotation browser work opens the account's own Chrome with a claude.ai page; claude-rotation browser work https://claude.ai/… opens that page there. The first time, sign in there once and add the Claude extension.
A stuck link
Claude Code connects a session to Chrome at its first Chrome call and keeps that link. If Chrome was closed and opened again, an old session's link can stay stuck: every Chrome call fails, while a new session connects at once. Kairos:
- tells a session whose calls failed before Chrome was up that Chrome runs now, and to try once more;
- starts a session with a stuck link again while it is idle, continuing its conversation, so its next call connects afresh;
- tells a session that keeps working that its retries won't help, and that
/exitthenclaude --resumeconnects at once.
An alert says so when it starts a session again and cannot continue it.
Moments
Chrome's account out of room, Chrome not running, or Chrome that stopped connecting are moments, with an alert you can mute: Claude in Chrome in Settings › Alerts.
