Deeper insights

The opt-in switch that lets Claude write a few insights and answer Ask from Kairos's numbers — exactly what is sent, when it runs, what it costs, how answers are checked, and how to turn it on or off.

Deeper insights lets Claude write a few insights from Kairos's numbers, and answer Ask when the device would. It is off until you turn it on. With it off, every insight and answer is worked out on your devices and nothing leaves them.

Turning it on

  • On a Mac: Settings › Sessions › Deeper insights. See Settings › Sessions.
  • On an iPhone or iPad: Settings › Deeper insights; it changes the Mac's setting.
  • From Terminal: claude-rotation deeper-insights on, off, or status.

"Uses a little spare Claude usage. Sends numbers, names and times from this Mac to Anthropic with your account, never your code or conversations."

What is sent

Answers to a few fixed questions about your week, as rows of a name or a time and a number: the week's limits and stops, today's CPU by project, the days' work and the week ahead.

Never sent: a transcript, a prompt, code, a file path, a session's title (Claude Code titles a session from its first prompt), an e-mail address, a token or a key. A session is named only as "session" and the first characters of its id.

See what's sent shows the exact text sent last time, or "Nothing has been sent."

How it runs

Through the official Claude Code on your Mac, signed in as your own account, on Claude's small model:

  • No tools, no MCP servers except Kairos's own two read-only tools for Ask, no settings files, no CLAUDE.md or memory, and no session saved.
  • In an empty folder of Kairos's own, with a spend cap, an output cap and a timeout. A run that uses more than its token cap is not kept.
  • Never with an API key from your environment: only the account's own sign-in.

When it runs

  • Only on spare capacity: an account whose 5-hour window is running, will reset before it would run out, and stands well under the limit ceiling, with its week well under the weekly ceiling. Never while the week plan says the accounts run short, nor while the capacity guard is pausing sessions.
  • Only when someone looks: when Today is on screen. At most one set every three hours, and once a day.
  • Ask: one question at a time, on the same spare-capacity rule. With no account to spare, the device answers instead.

How what it writes is checked

  • Every number in its words must be one Kairos gave it, or a rounding of one; otherwise the insight is dropped.
  • Each chart it names is a query Kairos runs itself; one Kairos refuses drops the insight.
  • Near-repeats are dropped. At most three are kept.

Insights it wrote show among the others as Written by Claude; answers in Ask are marked With Claude.

Turning it off

Turn the switch off, or run claude-rotation deeper-insights off. Nothing is sent from then on; what was written stays until the next set would replace it.
