What Kairos does by itself
Other coding tools
Codex, Grok Build, GitHub Copilot, Kiro, Cursor, Devin, Antigravity and the rest in the one accounts list — what Kairos can do with each tool's accounts, the shell line, and the commands.
Kairos lists every coding tool's accounts in one list, in one shape. Claude Code is one tool among them. What Kairos can do with an account depends on what its tool allows.
What Kairos does with each tool
| Tool | Kairos can |
|---|---|
| Claude Code | Add, sign in, read limits, rotate, cap, plan. |
| Codex | Add (one Codex home each), sign in, read limits, rotate by the same threshold, cap. |
| Grok Build, GitHub Copilot, Kiro | Add (one home each) and sign in; switch by hand. Kairos cannot read their limits, so they do not rotate. |
| Cursor | Show the account Cursor is signed in to, once Cursor's hook is in ("Seen when Cursor next runs an agent"). |
| Devin (Windsurf) | Its own sign-in in the browser; show its account. |
| Antigravity | Show its account, plan and quota, from its status line. Its terms do not allow automating its accounts, so Kairos only ever shows it. |
| Gemini CLI, Amp, Factory Droid, OpenCode | Listed when installed; they sign in inside their own apps. |
Kairos reads each tool only through its documented interfaces, and never opens a tool's own credentials. A tool's own usage page opens from the account's menu (Usage Page). See Accounts.
The shell line
One line in your zsh or bash startup file makes claude, codex, grok, copilot and kiro-cli in new terminals start on the accounts chosen for them. With it:
- the status line records each account's usage;
- Codex gets Kairos's waiting-on-you hook (Codex asks you to trust it);
- Cursor gets a hook that notes the account it is signed in to;
- Antigravity's status line records its account and quota (yours still shows).
Add it from Today's Terminal line card, the first-run steps ("Use Kairos's accounts in Terminal"; see Setting up Kairos), or claude-rotation shell --install. claude-rotation shell --status says what is in; claude-rotation shell --remove undoes it all.
Codex
Each Codex account is a Codex home of its own (CODEX_HOME), signed in by Codex itself. Each check places new Codex sessions on the account with room.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
claude-rotation codex |
Lists Codex's accounts. |
claude-rotation codex add --name side |
Adds one; Codex's sign-in opens. |
claude-rotation codex adopt |
Makes your own Codex home an account. |
claude-rotation codex sign-in 2 |
Signs account 2 in again. |
claude-rotation codex check |
Reads every account's limits now. |
claude-rotation codex seat 2 --confirm |
Confirms a Team, Business, Enterprise or Edu seat is yours; until then rotation never starts a session on it. |
claude-rotation codex rotation 2 --off |
Leaves an account out of rotation (--on puts it back). |
claude-rotation codex name 2 side |
Names it (--unset clears). |
claude-rotation codex switch 2 |
New Codex sessions start on it. |
claude-rotation codex run --account 2 -- ARGS |
Runs Codex on that account. |
claude-rotation codex remove 2 |
Removes it. |
Codex cannot receive messages from Kairos, so the capacity guard never asks a Codex session to pause; caps keep rotation off its account instead.
Grok Build, GitHub Copilot and Kiro
The same commands as Codex, without seat and rotation: claude-rotation grok …, claude-rotation copilot …, claude-rotation kiro …. Each account is a home of its own (GROK_HOME, COPILOT_HOME, KIRO_HOME). Kairos cannot read their limits, so you switch their accounts; a use-up-by time on one is a reminder.
Signing in and connecting
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
claude-rotation tool sign-in devin |
Devin's own sign-in, in the browser. |
claude-rotation tool connect cursor |
Adds only Cursor's hook, which reports its account. |
claude-rotation tool connect antigravity |
Adds only Antigravity's status line. |
The others sign in inside their own apps.
Handing work between tools
A session you mark can hand its task to Codex when every account of its own tool is out, and take it back later. See Baton.
